Comtemplate this too...

What evidence could you extract from Frankenstein to support or oppose Human Stem Cell Research?

  1. Human stem cell research could easily be opposed by ideas in Frankenstein. The creation of Frankenstein was first believed as helping the world become a better place with fewer deaths. Researching human stem cells is done to improve one’s stem cells condition so they can live longer. After the completion of bringing back the dead the world soon found out how terrible an idea like that was. Stem cell conditions were made by god and is necessary for the future if one did not need it god would not have given it to them. In both Frankenstein and stem cell research god made deaths and it should not be reversed under any circumstances or bad things may happen.

  2. Frankenstein is a clear warning and opposition to human stem cell research. Frankenstein and doctors today had to decide if they were willing to take the risk for a hoepful reward. Stem cell have potential to cure difficult medical problems and Frankestein had potential to create life but what was the outcome. Violating the natural order created a monster instead of a miracle and stem cells cuased patients of Parkison's disease to " wrist, jerk and fling uncontrollably"(The New England Jornal Of Medicine). In the end the procedure can not be undone for stem cell side effects or Frankensteins monster.

  3. In today's society cell research has been detrimental to the cures to many epidemics, the solutions to many controversies, and the study of life in and of itself. Although the story of Frankenstein seems to highlight the negative effects of reanimating life, it also supports the fact the there is not only room for improvement in this realm of science but also encouragement for success. Frankenstein proves that if Human Stem Cell Researchers nurture rather than neglecting their scientific research they can achieve much more through determination and hard work. Not only will it bring acclaim to the scientific branch but it will bring positive benefits to all of mankind.

  6. In Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein, the underlying message is that Man should not play the role of God "Fright must it be, for supremely frightful would be the effect of any human endeavor to mock the stupendous mechanism of the creator of the world"(Shelley 9). In the novel Victor believes he can create life and he attempts it- the end result is monstrous, LITERALLY. This can be related to human stem cell usage, if we use it problems could sprout in the future. So to be safe and to save ourselves from all the confusion and problems, we should not tamper with the creation of life. If these rules are not followed the balance of life itself could be set off.

  7. Human stem cell research phenomenon it’s horrific. Recreating a human corpse to be presented into a living organism again is disrupting natural order. Frankenstein implies how humans would respond and react to a grotesque recreation. The creator himself, Victor Frankenstein couldn't handle his creation. Frankenstein was a outcast wasn't accepted into human society .Even though the novel was created two centuries ago, people will enact parallel. Even though scientist could create something to cure or terminate a illness, the risk of chaos is high.

  8. Stem cell research is when scientists collect embryonic cells that use them to battle diseases. Frankenstein was monster that was built to further develop the human race. Frankenstein could support the user of Stem cell research because they both demonstrate the advancement of technology and continuation of life.

  9. Stem cell research is the work of using cells from dead embryos which can be supported by Frankenstein since he to is made of dead parts of other people. They both are unique ways on how to push and go beyond science then explaining what and why things happen. By using parts that seem dead to others are opportunities to those with creative thinking. However with Frankenstein and stem cell research there are those who believe that this is morally wrong and that that the person who developed it is playing god.

  10. Using the fact that Victor Frankenstein created a monster is basis enough that humam stem cell research is to be opposed. Victor though he was helpong advance science but in actuality he was creating a monster by accident. Frankenstein was trying to do the undoable. He wanted to create life which is something that is merely impossible the way he tried to do it. Human stem cell research would cause problems like what happened with the monster in the book.
