The whether was cold,stormy, and rainy. The weather could symbolize Victors feelings of anger and his feeling of horror of creating a horrible monster that is so revolting and wrong that Victor is too horrified to even look at him. It could symbolize the cold behavior that Victor gave toward the monster. The isolation and anger that Victor faces. His awakeneing to the fact that what he has loved and studies so hard was just a horrible mistake. The whether symbolizes the feelings that run through Victor at his obvious fail at new life. A new cold awakening to a project that never should have been.

The author might have set the creature's initiation such a night as this to foreshadow the destruction and misfortunes that the monster will bring because of Victor's interference in the cycle of nature.
ReplyDeleteThe weather serves as a quiet metaphor throughout the novel. The weather was very stormy on the night Frankenstein brought the creation to life. Obviously the weather corresponds to each character's attitude. Mary Shelley might have used this to symbolize Victor's emotions, as dark and angry.

The emotions that Victor displayed towards Frankenstein could also be interpreted by the weather. Shelley used the weather as a opportunity to further portray the emotions in this area in the story.
